COVID Infodemic - Being part of the solution!
This first assignment is a group project that I worked on with three of my peers. It is an informative slideshow detailing how to stay properly informed about the pandemic during a time of widespread misinformation. We raised awareness of COVID safety practices and explained the best ways we felt to negate disinformation. I liked this assignment because it was very topical and relevant at the time (and still is) and I appreciate how important the overall goal of the assignment was.
Reflections on coverage of BLM demonstrations and discussion with Anika Reed

For this assignment, I reflected on both a video about the media's coverage of the Black Lives Matter movement as well as our class discussion with USA Today deputy editor/former Media scholar Anika Reed. I enjoyed this assignment because it was the first guest speaker we got to hear from and I was very interested in her experiences working at USA Today as well as her experiences in Media, Self, and Society. After the discussion, I was intrigued to read some articles that Anika had written and also I felt like I learned a lot from the video we were assigned to watch.
Photo Activity
After hearing from photojournalist Sid Espinosa as a guest speaker in class and learning about effective photography techniques, we were assigned to take an image using the strategies we learned. I took a photo of my dog Lucy and tried my best to use the rule of thirds, depth, and perspective to make my photo more aesthetically pleasing. I decided to include this assignment because I like the photo I took and it was even posted on the MSS Instagram account!
ENGL101-
Digital Forum
This final assignment that I decided to include in my ePortfolio is not from Scholars, but I am proud of it and I think it shows some of my beginner-level website creating abilities. This digital forum I made in my Academic Writing course is my first ever experience creating a website, and I used that experience to help me create this ePortfolio. For this digital forum, we were assigned to present an existing issue and explore three positions on said issue, along with an annotated reading list of sources and research.
